By lowering the copper with a tiny amount of Mg, AA2519 emerged as an upgrade version AA2219 Al-alloy. The modification is intended to improve ballistic resistance and strength weight ratio. Despite its improved properties, it was facing some problems due welding. Formation oxide layers, solidification cracking, porosity are significant raised during Given above, present work planned investigate effect welding process on microstructural changes, corrosion behavior, mechanical properties Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Friction Stir (FSW) were used in weld 10mm thick plates Al-alloys. Microstructure hardness as-welded conditions studied. Potentiodynamic polarization tests conducted aqueous solution 3.5% NaCl aerated environment explore pitting behavior. Exfoliation studies carried out for various time lapses EXCO solution. showed better FS welds when compared that GTA welds. Insulation paths galvanic cell formation between Al2Cu α-Al matrix provided undissolved strengthening precipitates like Al2CuMg, Al3Zr, Al3Ti found be mechanism combination resistance.
